Sefet

The Eastern-most major city in Raqaejah and gateway to the continent of Haruka. Sefet lies just west of the Heshalxiang Canal, a 51-mile long man-made waterway which greatly adds to the city’s value as a maritime trade post.

Known as “The City of Swords”, Sefet earned the title from literal roots. Once home to a prominent sword making guild known as the Saif al-Tahneen until it was disbanded over 200 years ago. In the recent age, Sefet retains this title due to its reputation as a den of mercenaries and sell-swords. As the eastern-most point of the Path of Prosperity, the busiest trade route in Raqauejah, caravan leaders are always hiring all manner of protection to guard their wares during the long journey to Akkarid.

Due to the high volume of travelers from the eastern nations, Sefet has been significantly influenced by Haruken cultures, especially the neighboring Mozi-Xu, blending the sights, sounds, and smells of both cultures into a cacophony of sensation. However, for all its economic activity, the divide between the very rich and the very poor remains high. This is due to rampant organized crime and corruption of local law enforcement. In particular, the Seven Guilds of Coin are frequently cited for stifling independent business with intimidation and general thuggery. The guilds struggle for dominance over the crown jewel of Sefet, the Grand Bazaar, the central market place which stretches for well over a mile.
