Amaranthia

Session 66

Outline Recap

  • The battle continues.
  • Sehera has all of her wisdom drained and falls unconscious.
  • Hasan dispatches the last of the small mind shredders with a spectacular flourish.
  • Sartaj, Indira, and Feng quickly finish off the rest.
  • More noises are heard coming from the tunnel but Feng uses his staff of move earth to collapse it.
    **Nothing else appears.
  • The battle with the megapede is still going on.
  • Noda Oza moves towards Kalem and his group.
    • When she reaches the halfway point between the two groups she cups her hands in front of her face, blows into them (like blowing out a candle), and then throws her hands out in an arc in front of her.
    • Everything in front of her falls unconscious including a fleeing Loxo.
    • Noda Oza falls unconscious too.
  • Lyr heals the Loxo and revives Sehera.
    • The Loxo resume bringing the egg back to the camp.
  • The party tries to wake Noda Oza but can not.
    • They are unable to wake any one else.
  • Feng stuffs fire seeds down the knocked out megapede’s throat.
    • He cuts his arm in the process but it is quickly healed up.
    • When Feng triggers the fire seeds, they cause the megapede’s head to implode.
  • The party then goes about moving all those that are unconscious out of the sun, and healing those that are in need of it.
  • After an hour or so passes everyone wakes up at the exact same time.
  • Kalem is very excited that the egg survived and he can not wait to return home to study it.
    • To thank the party he gives them:
      • Choker Of Life Protection – not sure who got this
      • Bramvir’s Insight – Chain Shirt +2, grants the wearer the Combat Insight (CA) Feat for free. – Hasan takes this and gives Sehera his old chain shirt.
      • A very nice (expensive) carpet.
        • Much to Lyr’s disappointment it does not fly.
  • The leader of the Loxo gives Lyr the Chime of Opening to thank her for helping them.
  • As night begins to fall Kalem shoots off some type of flare.
    • This is to alert someone that they have completed their task and need to be picked up.
      • Turns out that the person who will pick up Kalem and his group in the morning is Asha Druj.
        • The party decides to leave before dawn.
  • As it gets darker the Egg of Garuda begins to glow/radiate light as if the sun is still shining on it.
  • The egg is warm to the touch and warms those that touch it.
    • When Feng touches the egg, there is a discharge of energy and a single white feather grows on the hand that touched it.
      • Due to his “molting” , the last of Feng’s feathers had fallen out a few days before.
    • The energy discharge does not happen to anyone else who touches it.
    • The egg continues to emit a soft glow for most of the night (it is no longer glowing by dawn).
  • The party leaves at dawn and continues traveling towards Baikuntha.

A few days later.

  • Near sundown the party comes across a roadside temple to Pelor.
    • There are several pilgrims at the temple.
    • Most of them are very poor.
    • A few of them are standing in the shadow cast by the spire of the temple.
      • Lyr explains that they are preforming Atmaparikshan. Which is a pious act to purify the spirit. Practiced by Peloric ascetics, it involves spending one or more entire days in the shadow of the spire of a temple to Pelor.
        • According to Noda Oza this practice is unique to Amaranthia.
  • Lyr introduces herself, Sartaj, and Noda Oza to the high priest.
    • The priest is a little bit stunned to find himself face to face with the Effulgent One.
  • Almost unconsciously many of the pilgrims begin flocking to Noda Oza.
    • Even a few small animals show up.
  • The party decides to spend the night at the temple.
  • In the middle of the night something wakes up Lyr.
    • There is a boy who looks to be about 7 years old staring at her.
    • She asks him what is going on and if anyone needs her.
    • He does not say anything but gestures for her to follow him.
    • Lyr follows the boy to the entrance of the temple.
    • He points out the door to a tall tree.
      • The tree was not there when the party entered the temple.
    • Lyr goes to wake the others, as she does she realizes that the boy has disappeared.
  • The party investigates the strange tree.
    • Indira identifies it as a Mukshahatut tree.
      • They are tall plants used in the production of whispersilk. It is said that insects and birds are known not to chirp near such trees, and they have a reputation for growing near haunted places.
    • Sehera climbs the tree.
      • Int he top of the tree there are a whispersilkworms.
      • She spots a figure in the distance.
        • It does not seem to be moving and is in a perfect line with the tree.
    • Sehera climbs down and informs everyone of what she saw.
    • Everyone heads towards the figure.
    • It is not a person but an effigy made out of wood and dried plants.
      • It appears to be very old and there is something that catches the light inside of it.
    • The woven inside the effigy a very tarnished medallion that looks like the ones worn by the Order of the Silver Sun.
    • Sartaj is still asleep so Sehera runs back to the temple and wakes him.
      • Once he arrives, he confirms that the medallion belongs to a member of the Silver Sun.
    • Everyone returns to the temple and they wake up the head priest.
      • They fill him in on what has happened.
      • He is as surprised as everyone else about the tree.
      • He informs the party that the effigy serves as the temple’s guardian.
        • 100 years ago a member of the Silver Sun died at the temple. He was buried and the effigy was placed over his grave to watch over the temple.
    • Sartaj and Sehera replace the medallion and repair the effigy.
    • At some point in the night the tree vanishes.
  • There are no more strange occurrences that night.
  • In the morning the party continues their journey.
  • After another day’s travel they reach the outskirts of Baikuntha.
    • The city is surrounded by farmland.
      • Slavery is still legal in Itwaar and there are many slaves working the fields.
    • There is also a very large military presence.
      • Itwaar prides itself on its military. While the soldiers are trained and can fight their current role borders on ceremonial.
    • The city is built on a hill and completely surrounded by a wall.
